Cornish Type 1
There were two types of Cornish unit, the type 1 and the type 2. Both were classed as defective housing under the 1985 Housing Act and now require repairs under the PRC Homes License to be mortgageable by money lenders.
Airey house
Airey PRC houses are on the defective housing list because problems have been found with the structural support posts. Mortgage lenders will only offer mortgages once the PRC repairs have been carried out and a PRC certificate has been issued
Wates house
Wates construction houses can be repaired by different license schemes. The most popular and acceptable type is a PRC Homes license which involves replacing the external concrete panels and posts with traditional brick and block.
